Mary Fugere, CMP, CTIS leads the Hampton media team, promoting the destination through media relations nationally, as well as to the hometown audience. As Director of Media & Community Relations, Mary strives to inform the national and local consumer of the exceptional convention and leisure experience awaiting them in Hampton. Mary has been active in the hospitality industry since 1987 and a member of the Hampton CVB staff since 1995.

Lacy Gibson leads the Hampton sales team as Director of Sales. Lacy most recently guided the sales effort at the Holiday Inn Select/LTD Management Company. Prior to that position, she served seven years as DOS at the Doubletree Hotel Military Circle. Lacy further served as DOS at the Norfolk Convention & Visitor Bureau and assistant DOS at the Omni Norfolk, presently the Sheraton.

Sallie Grant-DiVenuti serves as Executive Director of the Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau (since 2001) and has worked with the bureau since 1994. She worked on the design and launch team for the Hampton Roads Convention Center in addition to serving on numerous regional committees and task forces. Sallie serves on the Destination Marketing Association International's Research Committee. Sallie is active in travel industry associations by participation on the board level of the Virginia Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (2007 President), Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association, and the Hampton Roads Sports Commission (Vice Chair). Her vast knowledge and experience—the result of many years in the hospitality, hotel and convention and visitor industries—provides a global and strategic perspective to marketing Hampton as a year-round destination.

Michelle J. Hergenrother joins the Hampton convention marketing team following 21 years at the Holiday Inn Hampton Hotel & Conference Center. During Michelle's tenure in the hospitality field, she held various positions including director of sales, assistant general manager and director of catering. Michelle is also the proud recipient of several regional accolades including Distinguished Sales and Marketing Professional Award presented by the Peninsula Sales & Marketing Association. Michelle manages group sales in the State & Federal Government, Active Military, Cultural, Social Welfare, Ethnic (Multicultural), and Sorority market segments.

A focused, proficient communicator, Ryan is an asset to the Hampton team.

Jamie joined the HCVB staff in 1999 as a Convention Services intern while attending Christopher Newport University. Bruce Newton came to Hampton in January 2001, after seventeen years in the tourism industry as director of sales for a motorcoach operation. Since tourism and travel are in Bruce’s blood, Bruce oversees all group tour and travel sales and promotion to include marketing Hampton's offerings through AAA, and Welcome Centers. You will see Bruce at conventions such as N.T.A. and A.B.A.

As Group Services Manager, Corey goes the extra mile while managing the diverse services needs of Hampton's visiting meetings and convention delegates. Interning in 2000 while at Norfolk State University, Corey joined the team officially in 2001 shortly after graduating with honors and a B.A. in Advertising. Never absent of a relevant joke or anecdote, Corey's specialization in sports marketing services, proficiency, and attention to detail make him an asset to our team.
